1) Vishnu Muddu Moderated the conference call.
2) Ramesh penchala explained the current condition of his brother Suresh Penchala at ERLANGER HOSPITAL - Chattanooga, TN.He needs continuous medical attention but Erlanger hospital has said that he has substantial damage to his brain. At the same time as there is no treatment being done to him, they say that they cannot keep him in the hospital and as he is not responding, and would have to go to a Skilled Nursing Facility. Unfortunately as he does not have insurance no nursing facility is willing to take him. Hospital has asked me to take him home and my family lacks the expertise which the nurses at skilled nursing facility would provide in keeping my brother stable and keep him alive. Nursing homes would cost somewhere between $500 to $1000 per day .
3) Verma Jagdish Explained about the similar incident that happened to Rajendra Vagu last year in Virginia. He discussed the efforts that he, Punnam , Shailesh kept towards working with the Hospital, Nursing, Fund raising and Transportation to India. He said that we must reach out all the charity organizations for help.
4) Padmalatha spoke about getting the following things done
(i) Community awareness of this incident and to reach out different sections of communities and organizations
(ii) Reaching churches - list of churches, calling churches and asking either for money or getting a list of nursing homes / Rehab centers that churches will support
(iii) Compiling a list of reaching big donors personally both by email and phone.
(iV) Meeting with the senator / Governor of Georgia / Tennessee
(5) Nagender will create a group email account for this cause. Said that approaching the University authorities from where the Suresh Penchala is studying. And about school insurance for international students.
(6) All the attendees shared their ideas and some of them volunteered to take part in reaching out the word to different communities and organizations for fund raising.
ACTION ITEMS:
(1) Finalization of the Preparation of the one page Flyer.
(2) Compiling the email list for all Telugu / Indian Associations, organizations including AAPI and Indian software professional networks
(3) Compile an email list of various Indian student organizations.
(4) Flyer to be posted at restaurants, temples, desi malls etc in each town
(5) Finding the some Doctors for taking their advice.
(6) How to reach Eastern Illinois University Authorities for asking there help.
